Intellectual property (i.e., confidential information, unique business processes, patents and trademarks) is frequently stolen in the workplace. Most often, the theft occurs digitally when an employee copies a digital file or uploads it to a cloud source.

These actions leave behind digital traces of evidence that can used to determine:

  • what files were accessed;
  • when they were accessed;
  • by whom were they accessed;
  • what was done with them (i.e., deleted, modified or copied/uploaded); and
  • how it was done.

This is important and compelling evidence in lawsuits of this nature and can often present such a clear picture of what occurred that many proceedings can be resolved prior to trial, savings thousands in litigation costs.
